Research focus areas at Missouri S&T include deep-Earth processes that rely on advanced seismic processing techniques to examine topics such as plate tectonics, lithospheric dynamics, mantle plumes and earthquakes. It also includes shallow-Earth processes that use radar, tomographic imaging, magnetics and other techniques to understand geotechnical and soil properties, identify voids, tunnels, and sinkholes, and identify near-surface hazards.
